Mattress Care Guide

To help you get the very best performance, comfort and longevity from your mattress, please take a few moments to read the care information below. It contains important information about mattress care and maintenance.

Getting the Best From Your Mattress

Following these simple care recommendations will help maintain the comfort, support and hygiene of your mattress.

Use a Mattress Protector

A quality mattress protector helps keep your mattress clean and hygienic by protecting it from spills, moisture, dust and everyday wear.

Rotate Regularly

Rotate your mattress head-to-toe every 3 months, or as recommended for your mattress model. Regular rotation encourages even wear and helps maintain comfort.

Use the Correct Foundation

Ensure your mattress is supported by a suitable base or foundation that is in good condition and provides adequate support.

Keep Your Mattress Clean

Vacuum your mattress periodically using a low-suction upholstery attachment.

For spills or marks:

  • Attend to stains as soon as possible.

  • Use only clean soapy water and a damp clean cloth.

  • Allow the mattress to dry completely before replacing bedding.

  • Do not use bleach, solvents, laundry detergents or other harsh cleaning products.

Allow Normal Settling

Your mattress will naturally settle and conform to your body's shape over time. This is a normal characteristic of premium comfort materials and is not a manufacturing fault.

Avoid Excessive Weight Concentration

Avoid standing, jumping or placing excessive concentrated weight on one area of the mattress, as this can damage comfort layers and support systems.

Maintain Good Ventilation

Allow air to circulate around the mattress by removing bedding occasionally and ensuring the surrounding room is well ventilated.

Lift – Don't Drag

When moving your mattress, carry it carefully with assistance where required. Dragging can damage handles, fabric and internal components. Do not strap your mattress to a vehicle roof to transport it. Tight strapping can damage the internal structure.

Keep Your Purchase Information

Retain your proof of purchase and leave all labels attached, as these are required for any future warranty claim.

Mattress Size FAQs

What are the mattress sizes in NZ?

In New Zealand, our mattress sizes are standardised to fit everyone! They come in Single (91cm x 188cm), Long Single (91cm x 203cm), King Single (107cm X 203cm), Double (137cm x 188cm), Queen (153cm x 203cm), King (167cm x 203cm), Super King (183cm X 203cm) and California King (203cm X 203cm).

Is a double bed big enough for two?

Well yes, but no. A double bed may fit two people lying side by side but might be a little too tight and too small for both to sleep on comfortably. While asleep we move around, so each person needs a little extra wiggle room. At a minimum, we’d recommend a queen mattress, but if you have room for a bigger mattress it's worth it for a better sleep. However, if the bed isn’t going to be used much or the space doesn’t allow for a bigger bed, then a double bed will work, especially for your guest room or growing teenager.

What is the most popular size bed?

The most popular bed size worldwide is the queen mattress: she’s not too small and not too big! With enough wiggle room for two and compact enough to fit in most rooms, the queen mattress is a no-brainer for many bed buyers.

What size bed and mattress are good for 2 adults?

For 2 adults, the smallest mattress size we can recommend is a queen bed. However, the bigger the better is always encouraged! Ideally, when considering which size mattress to get, you’ve got to consider how much you move around at night, how many may join you in bed (i.e. kids, cats, etc.) and how big your bedroom is. If you have the space, then a super king or california king mattress will give each sleep partner enough room to move without disrupting the other and allow for any unexpected visitors. How big is a full size bed?

A full-size bed, also known as a double, measures 137cm x 188cm. It offers a comfortable amount of space for one adult or a snug fit for two. It’s a popular choice for smaller bedrooms or guest rooms.
